PROVIDE-A-RIDE
Every day in Central Oklahoma, there are senior citizens who can not go to the doctor or dentist, or receive necessary medical procedures and treatments, simply because they can’t afford public transportation. With no friends or family in the area to take them, they just don’t go. Can you imagine being unable to take care of your health simply because you can not access transportation?
“Walter” can understand, because he has been in that situation. Living on a fixed income, Walter is a very independent gentleman providing full-time care for his wife, who has numerous health problems. When Walter developed macular degeneration, he worried how he and his wife would live when he could no longer drive.
RSVP’s Provide-A-Ride program alleviates Walter’s concern about getting to medical appointments. He is one of several hundred senior citizens who are clients of the RSVP Provide-A-Ride program, receiving transportation to and from medical appointments. Clients of the program are transported by their peers…senior citizens who volunteer their time and personal vehicles to help people like Walter. Download "Helping Our Community" brochure.

TELEPHONE BUDDIES
In many cases homebound, elderly or disabled persons have few, if any, friends or family members living nearby. The RSVP Telephone Buddies program was created to enhance the lives of such people by reaching out to them, providing the friendly listening ear of someone who genuinely cares about their wellbeing.
RSVP Telephone Buddies not only provides friendship by phone, but also provides reassurance that help will be on the way in the event of an emergency. Telephone Buddies volunteers make calls at prearranged, regularly scheduled times. If calls go unanswered, an emergency plan of action is implemented immediately to ensure the client's safety and wellbeing.
Anyone can be a Telephone Buddy! RSVP Telephone Buddies is a wonderful way for those with limitations to provide a much-needed service. Seniors with physical limitations or who do not have access to transportation are able to participate in this incredible program. Volunteers make calls to clients from their own home, making it a perfect way for someone with limitations to be involved in volunteer activity and feel needed themselves, while also providing a very valuable service.

AMERICA READS TUTORING & MENTORING
RSVP America Reads tutors and mentors are linked with learners of all ages, from pre-school to senior citizens, in the areas of reading, comprehension, math, science, English as a second language and life skills. The impact on the learner's life is incredible. By participating in the program, learners demonstrate an increase in self-esteem, improved oral and writing ability and a better awareness of the world around them.
Adult learners who receive support and encouragement are more likely to complete school and/or adequately provide for their families. Whether you want to work with children learning to read, help someone conquer basic math or help adults improve their language skills - and improve the lives of their families. We have a place for you.

You're too young to retire! RSVP Professional Volunteer Services helps to fill the growing need for experienced, professional consultants. Many local nonprofit organizations are faced with cutbacks in funding, resulting in reduced assistance for their programs. By sharing your time and knowledge with these organizations, you will help enrich the community.
RSVP Professional Volunteer Services provides consultants, who possess a higher level of expertise, to non-profit and community organizations to help meet their program goals. Consultants in RSVP Professional Volunteer Services have experience in general management, organization and planning, financial management, education, training, insurance, communications, public relations, and more.
If you have a background in management or expertise in areas of great demand, and a desire to help on a temporary basis, then RSVP Professional Volunteer Services needs you.
You've learned a lot in 55+ years... don't keep it to yourself!
