Linking volunteers 55 or older with essential community needs throughout central Oklahoma
There are always lots of opportunities to serve and volunteer through RSVP OKC! For placement at one of these activities, or the many other RSVP volunteer opportunities not listed below; contact Patty Corona, Volunteer Coordinator, at 605-3110 or by emailing her to get linked with the activities that keep you smiling.
Be sure to keep your friends who don’t have internet access informed. If they are not RSVP members it's okay, let us know and we can get them signed up to volunteer with you

Current Volunteer Opportunities...
Help children aged 6-12 reach their potential by building a positive relationship mentoring for 2 hours a week. 

Tutor with the Study Buddy program for elementary school aged children from 4-5pm (3pm to join them for dinner) on Tuesdays or Thursdays, August - May.

Have dinner at 6pm with middle and high school students before helping them with their homework in various subjects, including preparing for test and research papers from 6:45-8pm, also on Tuesdays or Thursdays, August - May.

Answer the phones and help with light office work for this organization that provides family and youth services to a diverse background and low-income community.

Be a Public Relations Assistant, help to contact media outlets and write press releases to inform the public of the services provided to the community by this family and youth services program.

Provide administrative assistance by filing, assembling mailings, putting charts together, data entry, and helping with craft projects to help staff to better serve patients with life-limiting illnesses.

Sewing volunteers are needed immediately to start sewing 1,000 adult Christmas stockings and 1,000 children’s stockings.  These filled stockings will be distributed to patients at the various mental health hospitals and treatment centers as part of the Operation Reindeer project.  You can help even if you don’t sew by making donations of fabric, trim, yarn, etc., or personal hygiene items, such as make-up, socks, playing cards, small toys, etc. to fill the stockings for Christmas 2011. 

Take in fresh air and enjoy a beautiful view as you greet and direct visitors from around the world to the wonders of the natural and botanical world around us.

Prescreen callers, log incoming calls, and assist the volunteer coordinator with a variety of duties and schedule appointments for the administrative office and rental program for this faith based agency serving the at-risk homeless populations through their housing programs, dental, and WIC clinics.

Serve, dine with, and offer companionship to the members of the Visually Impaired Veterans Association Support Group by setting up lightweight tables and chairs for the monthly brunch every third Wednesday each month (except November).  Support those who put their lives on the line for us!

Be a receptionist volunteer for a multi-line phone office, filing, and assisting staff in their efforts to strengthen Oklahoma nonprofits.

Rock babies or play with toddlers while parents are taking classes to become better parents to help prevent or end child abuse, neglect or other family violence and help strengthen families.

Office assistance is needed to help with filing, making workbooks and copying homework pages for group leaders, to be used for parenting classes designed to help prevent or end child abuse, neglect or other family violence and to help strengthen families.  Evening and weekend hours are also available.

Drive low income seniors who may not otherwise be able to get transportation to their much needed medical, dental or eye appointments.

Help alleviate feelings of isolation and loneliness by making regular phone calls to an isolated or lonely senior who may have no other person to talk to.

Assist in a busy office by answering calls, assembling packets for events, and possibly assisting at events such as the car seat safety and poison control programs.  Their goal is to prevent unintentional injuries to children from birth to 14 through public education.

Multiple afternoon volunteers are needed to help with making and taking phone calls, data entry, interviewing single parents, picking up and delivering letters or donations to be used for special events designed to support and educate single parents and to equip them and their children to reach goals and become successful contributors to the community.

Help answer phones in this office to provide staff valuable time to provide services to disabled or elderly individuals.
